Marcie is a Sinologist and an artist. She’s trained in and studied the Chinese language, the country’s art and culture. She spent years living in China and during that time cultivated a devotion to characters, calligraphy, and the discipline of drawing, where meaning and gesture converge. This path later carried her to Germany, where she deeply engaged with European art and her Chinese studies. Those experiences made her understand Chinoiserie is not merely ornamental. Rather, it’s a centuries-long dialogue shaped by mutual curiosity, imagination, and exchange. Through her paintings, Marcie honors the enduring spirit of Chinoiserie, reinterpreting its elegance with scholarly depth and contemporary sensitivity.
