Butterflies Lingering Over the Flowers

In the Chinese poetic tradition, butterflies do not visit flowers, they linger. The title arrived before the brush did.

Executed in gouache on gold silk paper, this piece belongs to the earliest layer of Qidie Studio's practice, a surface that demanded patience and rewarded it in kind. Silk holds pigment unlike anything else. What you see here is the result of that negotiation: between medium and hand, between a centuries-old visual language and the painter who chose to work inside it.
